As far as the engine of the 2020 Explorer is concerned, you have several choices. A turbocharged 2.3-liter four-cylinder engine comes with the base, XLT, and Limited trim levels. It produces 300 hp and 310 lb-ft of torque. Rear-wheel drive comes standard, but all-wheel drive is an option. There’s also a 3.3-liter V6 engine that comes with the Limited Hybrid. The ST gets you a 3.0-liter V6 that produces 400 hp and 415 lb-ft of torque. The top trim level, the Platinum, comes with the same engine as the ST, but increases output to 365 hp and 380 lb-ft of torque. All engines come with a 10-speed automatic transmission.
